Founded in 1976, a big club with a big hearted community
In the late 1980's the club had approximately 6 or 7 teams with mixed success. It was around this time that club treasurer Julie Fisk along with Steve Said started the Hessle Sporting Tournament. This still exists today as one of the biggest events in the country and is now in roughly its 25th year.
At the turn of the century the club was expanding rapidly and it was then that Charlie Walker took on a group of lads that would grow into the senior team that exists today. Charlie's team had limited success until under 13's but they then started to sweep all that went before them. When they finished at under 16's they decided to go straight into mens football. The Hessle Sporting 1st Team was born.
In 2006/07 they entered the East Riding Amateur League on a Saturday. It took them a season to adjust to the physicality of mens football but in the 2007/08 season they had met the demands and won promotion into the Premier Division. However instead of taking this promotion the highly ambitious team moved to the Humber Premier League taking a place in Division 1 of what was reknowned as the premier competition in the local area. In their first season in this new league they took it by storm piling up the wins and winning the league by a short margin at the end. It was an amazing upturn and a meteoric rise from junior football to the regions top division.
In the 2009/10 season Hessle Sporting Club embarked on its first Humber Premier League season. The team continued to soar and were top of the table for a number of weeks pre Christmas. However others had games in hand and ultimately they were picked off and finished in a very credible mid table position. However second season syndrom was about to kick in.
2015 saw us raise enough money in grants, donations and fundraising to build our new clubhouse. This started work over the 2015 winter and due to be completed in early 2016. This not only provides a new clubhouse for the 28+ teams we currently have, it is also a community hub. A place to bring people together.
Year to year, we grow and grow. Our club members, parents, coaches, groundstaff work tirelessly to make HSC feel like home. We're proud to be growing at such a quick rate.
